Comparative Chemistry of Diffuse Clouds IV: CH
We observed the 3335 MHz (λ 9cm) F=1-1 line of CH toward a sample of diffuse clouds occulting compact extragalactic mm-wave continuum sources, using the old NRAO 43m telescope. Because radiofrequency observations of CH really must be calibrated with reference to a known CH abundance, we begin by deriving the relationships between CH, E B−V , H 2 and other hydrides found by optical spectroscopy.
متن کاملUnderstanding the Hydrogen Bond Using Quantum Chemistry
Understanding the origins and the fundamental nature of the chemical bond has been a central focus of chemists for decades. A chemical bond that has received considerable attention due to its importance in biological phenomena and in the relations between gas and condensed phases is the hydrogen bond, typically a relatively weak interaction involving an electronegative donor X, a hydrogen, and ...

Change is not made without inconvenience, even from worse to better. متن کاملIon Chemistry in Cold Plasmas of H 2 with Ch
The distributions of ions and neutrals in low pressure (≈ 10 mbar) DC discharges of pure hydrogen and of hydrogen with small admixtures (5%) of CH4 and N2 have been determined by mass spectrometry. Besides the mentioned plasma precursors, appreciable amounts of NH3 and C2Hx hydrocarbons, probably mostly from wall reactions, are detected in the gas phase. Primary ions, formed by electron impact ...
متن کاملThe chemistry of C-H bond activation on diamond.
The surface of hydrogen-terminated diamond resembles a solid hydrocarbon substrate. Interestingly, the C-H bonds on the diamond surface are not as unreactive as that of saturated hydrocarbon molecules owing to its unique surface electronic properties. The invention of C-H bond activation and C-C coupling reactions on the diamond surface allows chemists to develop powerful chemical transistors, ...
